Does the VREB have statistics on hand that show unit inventory going back to the 60's? If not, how far back does the VREB have data for unit inventory and how can the public gain access to this data?

Mike, in the 60's the VREB used to give their members 8 1/2 X 11 sheets of paper that they would tear on the perforated lines into 4 little sheets and put them into a little ringed binder in order to keep abreast of what was on MLS that was for sale. The realtors would also have to remove these "green sheets" that had been sold.

They may still have that information, but it is most likely not at their fingertips.

I watched my mother painfully go through this process every few days.

I guess there were no computers back then, hey? :)

I would hope that someone at the VREB has managed to plug in historical data into a database, even if its only available to realtors.

The data could in theory be recreated back to 1974 from the data held on all the properties by BC Assessment.

I can look into this. I have data going back to 1990 for most things and 1996 for "active listings."

I talked to the VREB this morning and 1996 is as far back as it goes for Active Listings (aka Unit Inventory Data).
