I'm sure it had more to do with wanting additional parking than City regulations.

I agree, and would be surprised to find out that you're allowed to have parking directly adjacent to a sidewalk like that.

There are parking spots next to the sidewalk all over the city. Can't see it being an issue. Both spots being used today on my walk home.

It has a whole new look!
