The school is now visible when driving south on Douglas St because the trees that were on its property behind Beacon Drive IN have been removed.

Those were very ugly trees I would rather see the amazing building.

That looks terrible! Any idea why they removed the trees?

The entrance on the left has been changed, and the window with the "open" sign is smaller.

Why, why why?

Really people are upset about being able to see a heritage building better? No change rules the roost again!

I much preferred it with the trees.

I am with you G-man, these trees really didn't add anything to the site. They were WAY overgrown and cast a perpetual gloom over the drive-in. Perhaps they were blocking Pam's view of the Sooke Hills as she drove around the park, so she ordered them removed.

I always felt the trees were too overgrown and crowded, nice to see them gone.

I might agree with G-Man. However I am a tree hugger and those top windows are balls. In fact I'm pretty sure the top floor is not original, so -1 for heritage.

I never knew what was behind those trees, but I like the new look.

When we would go down for our evening ice cream cone it was always dark and dreary in the shadow of those trees.
Life's a journey......so roll down the window and enjoy the breeze.

Had not even considered the improvement to my ice cream eating. I am even more in favour. We would always take our ice cream back across the road for more sun but perhaps we won't have to anymore.

For those who have never "seen" the building behind Beacon Bills I urge you to go have a look. It is the Beacon Hill Elementary School that was turned into condos years back.
It is a great structure

That's crazy--I was there on the weekend and didn't notice it. BTW, Beacon Drive-In's tiny interior seating area has all been re-done.

I always appreciated the shade on a hot day and the feeling that your were still in a park. Now it looks like nothing special at all.

If the old school building were a proposed new development, all we'd be hearing is how it would cast perpetual gloom over the drive-in.
