Like they say. stop and smell the roses.

Victoria has many hidden things right out in the open.
We walk by them every day but we don't see them or we don't know that they are there.
I think I will post a few examples here . Tonight I start with this.

Jameson Motors Stood on Broughton St between Douglas and Blanshard St. It has 3 ornate fountains on location. They were made from ceramic tiles.
I think that most would recognize this fountain.
The old car lot is now a parking lots . Ironic? Maybe.

Here is the fountain or what remains of it.

The fountain has damage to it but is a nice piece of Art History that takes up back in time. Next time you drive or walk by it stop and have a look. Picture the lot full of cars for sale and strings of light bulbs strung across the lot.
The fountains were built in 1928

The story does not end here.
Did you know that there is another fountain or at least part of it that still survives?
Yes there is but it has been moved.
It is downtown.
It is close to all the action.
It has not been treated well. People do not look at it . They do not stop and marvel at it and wonder where it came from or who built it.
There is however one person who I feel gets to visit it once per week.
Yes this person gets up close and personal with fountain number 2.
The sad thing is though that he probably doesn't care about the fountain. He wants to get in and out of the fountains way so that he can get on with his day.

This fountain has been dealt an injustice. The fountain deserves much more than this. It deserves to see the light of day. It should be able to see the people coming and going. It should be able to pose for photos.
Instead it sits in the dark wondering what it did wrong.

Today I went to visit this fountain. To say hi .
To let it know that someone knows its there and thinks of it.
Today it was brought out of darkness but for a few moments.

It would be nice if this one was moved somewhere more public.
It would cost money but maybe the City or Heritage Society would be willing to help find a new location for it.

The building that tile is on is the old W. A. Jamieson Coffee Co. and spice importers location.

Sparky, why are you hiding in the bushes?
Life's a journey......so roll down the window and enjoy the breeze.
