💨 Wind warning issued for Greater Victoria 💨

From Environment Canada:

Strong winds gusting near 80 km/h are expected to develop overnight.

A cold airmass spreading through the BC interior will reach the coast tonight. As a result, outflow winds from the Fraser Valley will strengthen and gust near 80 km/h by Monday morning. The plume of winds will extend from the Chilliwack and Abbotsford area through southern Langley and across the Strait of Georgia to affect the southernmost Gulf Islands and Victoria.

Winds will diminish slightly by Monday afternoon but remain brisk through Tuesday morning.

Snow is falling in some parts of the region, including in OB where police have issued a warning/reminder to drivers.

Was snowing pretty good at work this afternoon for a bit. We still have 6” of snow in our back half at home!

It manifested itself as a brief hailstorm in Saanich and fat raindrops Downtown. Didn't last long and I was glad to see it go and the sun come out. Enough already with the cold.

Sounds like somebody is rooting for the climate crisis :(

It's snowing in OB. Roofs are covered in the stuff.

Ugh. Looks like an inch of snow on my deck at home. Nothing in downtown Victoria or Sidney.

The unsettled weather makes for some dramatic sunsets...

We’re taking on some heavy hail in South OB. Nothing in the forecast about this.

Downtown hailing away, about the size of Hershey's Kisses. Decent bounce :D

Looks like this was the culprit.  Brought us some hail and rain.

Yeah, a little convergence zone (from a rare north-west airflow) set up over Victoria yesterday and gave us the hail.  Radar showed a narrow band of precip starting at about Tillicum-Burnside area and trailing southeast about halfway across the Sound; stayed in place a few hours then dissipated once the sun went down.

^ depending which forecast / model one believes.  For a projected peak temp next week I've seen anywhere from 15 to 19 here, and 21+ in Seattle.

But any of that will feel warm, given what we've had. :)
