With the recent $15.8-million increase in the price of the Johnson Street Bridge replacement raising the cost to $93-million from $77-million, which itself was an increase over an earlier estimate of $63-million, how high do you think the price will go?

I have a feeling we'll end up higher than $100-million, perhaps up to but not over $110-million which works out to a +/- 40% price increase on $77-million.

Are you asking about just the bridge, or the whole deal, including the west side park, the landscaping, the bicycle/pedestrian bridge over Esquimalt Road, and all the pathway connections? There are a lot of trimmings to go with this steak, and they're going to add up too.

I mean whatever was in the plans when tax payers went to the polls to borrow $50-million for what was then budgeted as a $77-million project.

It looks as though 44% think the final price will be between $111 and $120-million, or 45% - 55% over budget.

Other than one person, everyone believes that the final price will be in excess of $93-million.

G-Man,

But we are all optimists. We are optimistic that it will exceed 93million! =)

Isn't it wonderful to know, that the bridge that is used by everyone else in the region (not just Victoria) will be paid by just Victoria.
