not sure it’s going to be all that popular. the place providing it must also include a list of all ingredients.

who orders food and two single drinks? most food delivery orders include zero (non alcohol) drinks now. not sure that will change much.

You've always been allowed to carry open liquor in public or in a car. You have to carry it from one place of legal consumption to another. You're just not allowed to drink it.

You can ask a restaurant to cork a half finished bottle and take it home with you.

Technically an officer has to see you drinking, but it is often easier to avoid 'misunderstandings' by having unopened bottles, putting the bottles in a trunk or bag, etc

Open liquor can’t be within arms reach of the driver, I thought?

Pretty hard to see if the liquid actually transferred when it’s a can

I am not interested in doing this, so haven’t delved into it, but there are some rules about packaging and labelling. I don’t think you can just pour a gin and tonic into a takeout cup and go.

Liquor in a car can’t be within arms reach and a restaurant that recorks a partial bottle must actually recork it all the way, you can’t just shove a cork in like you might at home, last I checked.

I'm not sure if that is in the law, or just an urban myth to keep people of trouble. If you have the bottle in your lap, the conversation is going to be much longer than having the bottle in the trunk.

The B.C. government is continuing to loosen restrictions on selling alcohol, with news today that restaurants can immediately start selling single servings of beer, wine or unmixed spirits to customers who buy meals for take-out or delivery.

Previously, diners could only buy wine or beer with meals when those beverages came in pre-packaged containers.

The government-created Business Technical Advisory Panel (Liquor Policy) had recommended the change, as part of a slate of 23 recommendations for how the government should modernize liquor regulations in B.C.

"It's not really a very major change," said Mark Hicken, who chaired that panel. "It was just kind of to create some consistency in the fact that you could get a single product, rather than having to buy a whole bottle."

Always seemed odd that if you bought a sandwich i could sell you a 40 of gin, a case of tonic, three limes, a bag of ice, and a sleeve of cups to go… but a single gin and tonic in a cup? No way, too dangerous.

I'm not sure I follow.  You buy a burger for take-out and can take a serving of wine in a plastic cup with a paper straw?

I’m not interested so not really 100% on the deets but I think it must be labelled with ingredients and ABV and also be packaged in a container that shows when the seal has been broken.

No, you can’t just pour a beer into a coffee cup and go.

You could just go to any government liquor store and do the same without the markup and noneed to buy anything else.

For some, it is portion control. If you take only one beer home, then you can only drink one beer.

I did just that this evening. Bought one large beer for my friend and I to share after our walk tomorrow.
