B.C. wine sales flat despite ban on U.S. imports

Buyers gravitate toward wines from France, Argentina and New Zealand

Instead, countries such as France, Argentina and New Zealand are the ones seeing resellers buy substantially more of their wine even as overall wine wholesales in the province are relatively flat.

Guignard also said he believes that the BCLDB has allocated more of the shelf space that previously held U.S. wines to foreign countries as opposed to wines from B.C.

"They're responding by trying to sell more cheap imported wine, which they can make a larger margin on," he said.

The BCLDB denies this.

How come you can smoke weed in public but you can't drink a beer?

The beer is a lot less impactful to the surrounding area, weed stinks up a huge area.

We were following a truck up a road the other day, the driver was smoking weed and the stench filled our car.

I'm aware it is illegal to smoke weed in a vehicle.

Couldn’t agree more. There are few things I dislike more than taking kids for a walk and encountering someone smoking weed on the sidewalk. It reeks and I really don’t want my toddler inhaling any of it.

Yeah, it’s gross.

Know it all.

The province has started a 3 year trial to allow to restaurants and bars to purchase alcohol from private retailers, no discount I assume.

I have no idea how they will track this.

"Gross" is the operative word here!

when you do the math - exhaled smoke is a substance that's been inside somebody else's body, and that person has ejected that internal substance into the surrounding air - only to have you inadvertently breath somebody else's internal detritus into the inside of your own body!

That's the fricking very definition of something far beyond "gross"!

Ugh, it happened today at Weir beach. I had all the kids (from ages 3 to 13), we were digging a hole with the shovel and beach bucket. Suddenly I get a waft of the stuff. Some lady is taking tokes of a 1 hitter about 100’ away. We can smell it so clearly as if she’s right beside us.
Weed stinks, and people who smoke it in public are disgusting.

If someone is gonna enjoy a couple beers on the beach that’s entirely possible without anyone around them being the wiser. Weed is a different story. It should never have been legalized imo.

I don't care if it is legal, you shouldn't be able to smoke it outside your own (or someone else's) premise or licensed  indoor facility.

It stinks and wafts forever.

I don't like pot or cig smoke any more than you do, but I wouldn't use this argument at all. CO2 exhaled from normal breathing fits the same 'internal detritus' :).

It’s rude. I find smokers no longer perceive the smoke. Tobacco especially. This would be a good use of propaganda. Make it rude like leaving your dog sh*t on the ground. That campaign worked very well.
