...It's by Illarion Gallant, who's sort of Victoria's go-to guy for reliable, safe art. He did the avocado chopsticks on Belleville and the Bastion Square tulip canoe among others.

At least it's not a series of cubes. The last thing this project needed was more 90 degree angles.

It sort of reminds me of the living art in beetle juice.

I like it, but strangely had no idea there was a public art component to this project.

*yawn*

This project is an example of 90 degree angles done well. The building is of course rectangular, but the result is something much more artistic and thoughtful than simply boxy like some of the other junior highrises that have gone up around town.

I think that's a matter of personal opinion. It is a VERY boxy project.

What are these? Nothing is coming to mind, so wondering if I've never noticed them.

Thanks for the photos, VHF- when is completion? It seems likely that V1488 will reach occupancy sooner (though it started construction later).

It's still hard to tell where all the interior is at.  but I'd say June from what I can see.

That looks like some good pigeon roosting material on the side of the building.

There will be a continuous flow of climbers using it to get from the extruded boxes to the roof, so I doubt pigeons will ever have much time to get comfortable.
