For the 18th year in a row, the Fernwood Neighbourhood Resource Group (NRG) will be hosting FernFest, the "best urban block party in BC."

Folks will be rocking out with musicians, performers, dancers, food, bikes, artists, magic, and so much more! There is no better place to be on June 21st & 22nd. Join us and watch the revelry unfurl as the Fernwood Square is transformed into a 2-day circus extravaganza of fun with all your best neighbours and friends! This is a free event.

And as it has for the past four years, FernFest will be capped off by Fernwood Bites, Fernwood’s favourite food and libation tasting event, featuring food from Fernwood area restaurants. This is a 19+ paid admission event.

Fernwood is for Foodies!

It is the same weekend; however, VIC Fest is Friday/Saturday, while FernFest is Saturday/Sunday, with Sunday evening transitioning into Fernwood Bites.

FernFest, a long-running festival in Fernwood, is cancelled in 2026 as the neighbourhood group says it will “explore new ways of celebrating and welcoming neighbours.”

FernFest has been a summer staple for 28 years, and in 2025 it added a third stage, hosted over 40 musicians and 85 vendors.

However, the Fernwood Neighbourhood Group told CHEK News the event will not be happening this year.

A popular neighbourhood celebration on the brink of extinction could shift to a community-led festival, with a pair of Victoria councillors pitching funding for FernFest.

In its 28th year, the event grew in 2025 to include a third stage, only to face elimination in 2026.

Organizer Fernwood Neighbourhood House (formerly neighbourhood resource group) cancelled the event in the face of computing priorities and lack of capacity.

Robot?

Immigrants are generally less likely to volunteer for formal organizations compared to native-born populations, with studies indicating a 39% volunteer rate among newcomers in Canada compared to 49% for Canadian-born.

FernFest returns following $20k grant from Victoria

https://cheknews.ca/...ctoria-1323370/

Widely considered the largest neighbourhood festival in Victoria, an estimated 17,000 people attended the two-day event last year.

If they could have collected just $1.17 from each of those attending last year they could have the $20,000.
