I don't know how I didn't notice the place papered up sooner.
I was quite surprised as it's been there for at least 12 or 15 years?
I called a friend who was a customer.
He said they closed literally overnight about three months ago.

I called the Hillside location to see if it was gone too. It's business as usual.

The explanation being that the Douglas location was sold to a different owner about 5 years ago. So there is no affiliation between the two California Gold locations.
So anyone with any existing packages is SOL.

According to my friend, he said he was there on a Friday and went back on Monday to the place papered up. :squint:

^ Ouch!!

When I was a boy, there was a spa building in the Hillside shopping centre where Thrifty's is now. The big thing then was "lifetime" memberships. These memberships cost thousand$ even in those days.

Imagine the feeling that a lifetime member must have had when he gripped the door handle......and it wouldn't open...

Thanks Martini....maybe someone is still paying with automatic withdrawal, and they could use this news.

Funny you mention that spa! Our family had a membership there! Yes I do recall my father being pretty choked about it closing overnight.
Was it Atlas?

I did not even consider automatic withdrawals. wow

I had a membership at that Hillside place in the 80s. It was a full-on gym, with weights, machines, bikes, the works. I sure didn't buy a lifetime membership.

Those tanning spas I don't get. I see some women with an orangey hue and shake my head.

Seriously, how much sun have we had?

Plus they did other services as well. Not just tanning.
It is a lifestyle for many folks. Plus it can help with SAD.
