I'm doing some research on the Medical Arts Building at Cook and Pandora as part of the Victoria 150 celebrations. Looking for the date and architect. It is not DiCastri. He did the medical building at 1137 Yates in 1959. The Victoria Modern #2 booklet by UVic makes a brief reference to "John Wade's Cook Street Medical building (1952)" but there is no picture. The actual address of the Medical Arts Building is 1105 Pandora.
The Architectural Institute of BC claims to have no means of referencing architects and buildings. Nor does the Victoria Archives, but I did spend a few hours going through their library. The Victoria Planning and Permits dept have 1955 as the date but no architect listed. It's such an outstanding example of modernist architecture, I can't believe there isn't more info about it.

Would also love to know more about the Caribbean Apartments at 1940 Fort St.

If you can get ahold of Martin Segger sp? At UVic I would bet he could tell you.

Good idea. I sent him an email, but he is probably off for the summer. Odd how such a prominent building is not better described in the available histories of Victory architecture--as least as I've been able to find..

I know I'm a few years late to the party, but the Architect of record for the Medical Arts building at 1105 Pandora was Wade & Stockdill. The plans are dated November 1954.

Back in the 50,s that building was the place to have your practice if you were a somebody in the medical profession.
