I've called the architectural firm for details but none were disclosed yet. Maybe it's a bit early on in the proposal phase of the project.

For 83 years, the corner of Gorge and Admirals roads has been home to the historic Brookman’s Grocery (formerly the Craigflower Bridge Store) and Saanich Auto Repair (formerly Brookman’s Garage).
But for the second time in under a decade, Saanich council is being asked to consider a significant redevelopment of that corner, this time to make way for a four-storey, 144-unit seniors care home.
Council on Monday was expected to hear from the property owners, Saanich Senior Living Inc., about their plans to for an independent living facility, along with a care facility for seniors with memory loss.
In his report to council, Jarret Matanowitsch, Saanich’s manager of current planning, noted the property is “outdated” and suggested council approve the redevelopment, given the positive impact it could have.
“The scale and density of the proposed facility reflect the economic challenges of providing relatively affordable serviced accommodations for seniors,” he wrote. “It would expand the range of housing choice available in the neighbourhood (and) address the demand for residential accommodation to house an aging population.”
Opposition to redeveloping this corner persists. A letter to council from neighbour Robin Hume states that corner is not a good location for such a large facility, given the height of the building, existing character of the neighbourhood and a lack of nearby shopping amenities for the mobile-challenged seniors who would live there.
Rob Wickson, in a letter on behalf of the Gorge Tillicum Community Association, supported the project, noting a statistically higher number of seniors live in the community and that “this proposal is a vast improvement over previous attempts to develop this site.”

Saanich residents will have an opportunity Tuesday (Jan. 14) to provide input to council on a proposed 144-unit seniors complex.

Property owners Saanich Senior Living Inc. intends to build the four-storey facility on land at the corner of Admirals and Gorge roads, which currently houses the historic Brookman’s Grocery and Saanich Auto Repair, as well as a small apartment and commercial building, and a 23-room motel.
The complex would be an independent living facility, along with a care facility for seniors with memory loss.
Last August, after council gave first reading to the proposal, Mayor Frank Leonard called it a “dense” and “attractive” project for the neighbourhood.
“Some of the neighbours who were opposed said, ‘This doesn’t fit. This is a residential community.’ Well this is residential; this is seniors living in our community,” he said.
“Sometimes we need to redefine how we see residential. We can’t stereotype it as single family homes if we want our community to age in place. We’re going to have mixed uses of residential options in neighbourhoods.”
The Gorge Tillicum Community Association previously threw support behind the project, noting the high number of seniors that live in the community and calling this proposal “a vast improvement” over previous redevelopment attempts.
In addition to building the new facility, the developer is proposing to rehabilitate Brookman’s Grocery and move it elsewhere on the property.

The corner of Admirals and Gorge roads could undergo a major transformation in coming years, now that Saanich council has given its blessing to a 144-unit seniors complex.

At a public hearing on Tuesday, council gave first three readings to bylaws that would allow the project to proceed.
Despite a large crowd, only a handful of people spoke to the project, with minimal opposition.
“(The developers) really did listen to the community on this and they kept trying to address concerns,” Mayor Frank Leonard said.
“Part of the property is (currently) zoned shopping centre, part is zoned motel/hotel. … They came in with a comprehensive development and took the entire site and put in a use that’s welcome, as opposed to a mix of shopping centre and hotel.”
