Perhaps it's just me, but spending scarce tax dollars on tht section of Lochside is a complete WOFTAM, as far as I'm concerned.

If I understand correctly they are applying for federal grant funding and not spending municipal tax dollars. Yes taxpayer funded at the end of the day, but if Saanich doesn't try to get some of the grant funding it is just going to go to another jurisdiction.

As far as I can tell, bike lane construction on Vancouver St ended about 6-7 weeks ago yet the bike lanes themselves remain closed. Cyclists are now forced to share the narrow single lane with vehicles making it far more dangerous to use then prior to any construction.

Maybe that *is* what it's supposed to be like. Maybe the design is even lousier than we thought.

It does seem like work has slowed down a bit on the Vancouver St bike lanes, but there were at least crews out on Vancouver Street at Pakington, Fairfield, and Pandora. Still, the project was originally intended to be complete by February and there's still lots to do.

NParker, repaving the North Park portion of Vancouver Street is in the plans.

NParker can you take a photo and post of the bike lane along your section of Vancouver Street?

I generally avoid going near Vancouver Street, but if I do find myself there and have my phone with me, I will try to remember to take some pics.

It's very common on the Dallas Road multi-use path. I bought some roller blades for $1 at a garage sale and went rollerblading with a friend not too long ago. My friend in my building just bought some and uses them to get to work from 1008 Pandora to Vic West via the Pandora bike lanes.

What happens when they hit a patch of gravel or grass what about a stairwell? Perfect to capture Nick Swardson: https://youtu.be/MVZv5vfAWn8

^  it does seem a bit flawed.

generally a person on two feet can outmaneuver a person on roller-blades.

I’m thinking about buying some new ones I’ve got some but they’re so old they’re a bit tight on the toes.

So cynical. This could be another success story like those green bikes.

I rode it today, it's not really that much worse than any other narrow street. They did actually physically close the lane, where before I think they left if open which was confusing. They've started the prepping Vancouver north of Pandora for the next phase so I hope they'll finish the whole thing soon. I think once everything shakes down it'll work.

It won't work as well as it did before the city $#*%-ed it up.
