The video has been taken down.

Maybe it’s not so cool after all to post videos of yourself endangering people’s lives.

Possibly because some cyclists thought it was an instructional video?

“The Oak Bay Police Department has received complaints about cyclists who are running the stop sign at Beach Drive and King George Terrace. Cyclists are required under the Motor Vehicle Act (MVA) to stop at stop signs. Verbal warnings have been issued, however moving forward our police department will be issuing violation tickets for “Failing to Obey Stop Sign”, Section 186 of the MVA with a fine of $167.00.”https://mobile.twitt...erp|twgr^author

Coincidentally before I had a chance to read that I ran that stop today. i had a lot of momentum

"Cyclist killed by pickup identified as 11-year-old Mill Bay boy"

"..Shawnigan Lake RCMP Detachment Commander Tim Desaulniers said the collision is still being investigated, but it appears the cyclist failed to stop at a stop sign when he turned left to head onto Benko Road..." https://www.timescol...-boy-1.24342508

Today my 12yo daughter and I biked the loop from the Johnson St Bridge around the outside of James Bay to Dallas Road and back up Vancouver to Pandora and back to the bridge. It really is great to be able to do that loop on mostly protected roads, apart from the section from the legislature to the breakwater. We stopped at Fisherman's Wharf, in Beacon Hill Park to watch some cricket, and at Market Square to get some gelato across the street at Mosi.

BTW: I've worked there for 9 years but I have rarely seen Market Square so busy... between Whistle Buoy (which has an oyster bar AND a venezuelan food booth going) the Drake, Ayo Eat and Cafe Mexico it's super busy!

Last time that place was hopping was back in the 80’s, early 90’s with Fat Phege’s, the comic store, few other things I can’t remember, plus of course the hackey sack hippies.

I worked there for a few years in the mid 90’s. It was extremely active. Foxglove, fat phege’s, beadworld, rubber rainbow, cafe mex… ska fest. :)

Is that a reversed picture?  Kinda strange to have a bike lane on the right of the road??

Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?

Yah...I thought that, but then decided that the vehicles looked more North American than Oz/NZ/UK/SAf...

Residents of Saanich can receive a rebate of between $350 and $1,600 when they purchase a new electrically assisted bicycle (e-bike), including cargo e-bikes, under an incentive program announced on Tuesday.

Introduction of the Community E-bike Incentive Pilot Program makes Saanich the first local government in B.C. to provide a rebate for residents acquiring an e-bike as a low-carbon, renewable-energy transportation option.

Holy moly. How expensive is the bicycle if the rebate is $1,600?

What about people who buy parts to retrofit existing bikes into e-bikes?

Those people must only be riding for pleasure then and not in place of driving a car.

Thats what I was looking for. No where does it specify you have to replace a car. It's also not elligible for commercial purposes. I'm going to look into getting my wife one now; 1600 bucks back is half the cost of a decent ebike.
