It’s why I stopped riding my illegal bikes. Any accident and you are personally responsible. Once I had kids that repercussion became an even bigger weight on the scale. Especially if the accident impaired me. Many of these bikes are mopeds but they don’t want to or can’t get certified as such. So sell as e-bikes - not for road use. Go after the source which is the seller, distributes, and the manufacturer. They are selling under false pretence and product liability should apply.
Why is it, that the media will focus on the crash with photos and description of events, but unless the story is of major and particular noteworthiness (ie., involving an important person or high profile place), there is virtually never any follow-up describing what happened after the fact?
For example, we never hear of the financial repercussion from an at-fault car accident, where the insurance coverage did not satisfy the damages, so the motorist was held liable for overages. Why does that virtually never enter the public realm?
Know it all.
