Even under communism beer wasn’t free, and there was a line-up for mugs.

Was this approved along with the Hudson taproom, or is it still going through the process?

Also, any word on the Moon taproom? They've gone through the mandatory CoV process of waiting at least one year before approval already...

Based on VicMap a BP for interior renos was issued in January

Edit: Moon's social media has images of a "preview" tasting room in December. Seems that they were granted a temporary expansion of their pub license while the lounge goes through the licensing process.

Which of the restaurants/pubs along Government/Bastion Square actually require a great deal more outside seating?

so here is a good question.  which venue in victoria does the best job of an outdoor patio that can be open in somewhat inclement or shoulder weather?  i can't really think of any that do a fabulous job.

Shameless plug: The Fernwood Inn has a covered patio that is used all year round, complete with heaters and blankets.

The way 10 Acres Commons is currently set up extends the season better than most. The pseudo-outdoor space at Flying Otter kind of ticks this box.

Is Bard’s outdoor space in the back open in the off season?

Nice roundup! I’d add Christie’s, but there is very little discerning it from the “inside” space. Ditto with Taphouse and whatever Wharfisde is going by these days. I can’t recall exactly that it looks like, but what about Spinnaker’s?

Browns at Uptown

On one hand it's in the middle of a shopping centre, so a lot less appealing than say Bastion Square. But it is actually a pretty nice patio, and is well-protected, heated, and offers blankets. It would be very high on the list for days out of 365 that it would be possible to sit outside there. We've done it on some very chilly days (but not this week!).

there is a very small but nicely well protected covered deck on the second floor of Spinnakers.  Heaters, blankets & glass walls.  We've sat out there many a time in winter.

Not a pub, but Il Terrazzo has a really nice "outdoor" space that is pretty much entirely enclosed

Speaking of pubs, the Local has pulled off a rare feat. They have managed to take a notorious tourist trap space and turn it into a decent year-round watering hole.

My favorite sunny patio for the last couple of years. It seems to be a really well run place these days.
