The door was open when I walked by Refuge this morning. The bar and taps are all in place. Looks like it is close opening.

It is a small bar, so has more of the feel of many downtown bars you'd see in the US.

"Liquor in the front, patio in the rear"...  I don't get it.

^At first glance those chairs/stools look hideously uncomfortable.

Back patio looked full (which was maybe 12 people) at about 5:30.

What? They're classic  therefore they can't be uncomfortable!

I have a bootleg pair from Canadian Tire with a wood seat. Love 'em.

Looking forward to trying this one. I was trying to think of what Antique Row shops have these great hidden backyards. I know Sally Bun and that hippie sandwich place.

My middle-aged derriere and sciatica might not entirely agree with that statement

Went to the Victoria Beer Society soft opening last night. You are not wrong. Nice space overall though.

Confirmed. Several staff have made it known that the closure appears permanent.

Perhaps.

Interesting how in one week Saanich could gain a massive entertainment complex in the Uptown area, while Fox (also in the Uptown area) closes down. A sign of the times, perhaps?

Here’s more on the Uptown entertainment venue proposal: https://victoria.cit...tre-in-saanich/

I think the hotel is doing well; is it old enough to warrant redevelopment? Certainly the Jade Fountain is doing well too, that place is usually packed. Best value dim sum in town.
