Newer suburban municipalities are always going to put up impressive % growth numbers because they tend to be physically large and the sheer populations tend to be low.

20% growth in Saanich would equate to more than 60% of the population of Langford. Nobody should want that. But increasing density a bit around Uptown and Tillicum shouldn't be controversial. Maybe also at UVic.

The McKenzie strip from Shelbourne to UVic should be a frickin happening place. Bars, restaurants, apartments, etc. Right now it's super lame with SFHs and setback apartment buildings. The one bar/restaurant is Original Joe's. Lame.

Yeah, it could be something spectacular, for sure. The university is just up the street, for God's sake.

Those kids are notoriously broke though.  And I'll bet most of the faculty just likes living in the 'burbs.

In a perfect world IMO it would ideally transition into a true "U" district, like the U-W in Seattle or even the westernmost area of Kitsilano along Alma from 4th Ave to 16th Ave., which is the UBC version.....

They weren't broke when I went there from 2004-08! There was always money for beer and takeout, somehow.

“We’re on the verge of being one of the few communities maybe in Canada that will never have the right to clean, piped water. So there’s a lot on the line for us,” Hicks said.

Under the current growth strategy update process, the CRD board is required to notify the province if not all municipalities support the strategy.

In this case, a majority are opposed.

Seven of the 13 municipal councils in the CRD have voted to reject the update, with many expressing concerns about how provisions that would allow CRD water to be piped into the unincorporated Juan de Fuca could lead to urban sprawl.

I have been "randomly selected" to take part in the CRD's 2022 Origin Destination Household Travel Survey. Has anyone else been chosen?

Yes, I got that as well... I'm not sure I want to tell them where I go.
