Nope, not quite. I believe it is affecting the green space north of Grant Road and south of Otter Point Road near West Coast Road/Highway 14.

Serious incident near Sooke’s Camp Barnard where a child has reportedly been struck by a tree and another injured.

One is unresponsive. One was able to climb to safety. One individual is down an embankment.

Teen was climbing a tree which broke, sending him down an embankment. He's been airlifted to hospital. A second teen had minor injuries.

And Black Press published a very clear photo of the young man being wheeled away on a stretcher. In what world is it ok to post a picture of a dying child to your Facebook page?

Speaking of questionable Facebook pics....A couple of weeks ago, someone posted a pic on Facebook of Nils Jensen in his hospital bed, attached to oxygen. It was to promote Kindness Day which was one of the now deceased mayor's causes. The pic quickly got taken down, probably by the admin of the Oak Bay Facebook group and a more appropriate pic of the mayor, in his healthier days, was posted. But I just gasped when I saw it, how someone could be so lacking in judgement!

When you know the person has died, yes. Exactly what I thought was wrong with the Mayor Jensen pic.

Not that it would make it any better whatsoever, but one hopes that picture was of the child who was just injured.

Unfortunately, even though it's been taken down from the website, it still shows up in any Google search for the incident details.

 

Posting it was inexcusable, and heads should roll.

But they took down the image once they learned he died, though, right? What's the problem?

Anyone listening to the scanner knew the child was deceased from the moment emergency personnel arrived. It was a long time afterwards that that photo emerged.
