Of all the places I've been in the world, Africa in general is the one place I want to go back to, though I'm sure our next trip will be further north in Kenya and Tanzania.

Can't shake that feeling, hey? Just something about the place that is hard to explain.

So this Travel Channel piece is about the Mill Bay Marina. Not so long ago it was devastated by a storm. The infrastructure was weak, and was no match for the cruel elements of 2009.

Four local businessmen pooled their resources to rebuild the marina with gusto.

They have built a state of the art concrete wharf facility that has to be the finest on the west coast.

This sucker isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

The delightful part is the Bridgman Bistro that opened some 75 days ago.

It was packed with customers at a quarter after twelve today.

The food was delightful. Spencer our waiter and Emily (our hostess that snaged the best table on the patio for us) Knocked our socks off.

Boat tie up was free for the afternoon....the staff couldn't be more helpful...I have to give this facility.....three thumbs up.

Want useless at all would have been great other than the line up that was way up the hill.
The important thing was that I eventually made it to where I had to go and with 1/2 hour to spare

Went to Salt Spring Island yesterday to check out the local scene. Had another great meal at the Rock Salt in Fulford Harbour. Thank you for your hospitality once again Matt. Your tempura prawns were perfect.

The highlight of the trip was taking in the view from the top of Mount Maxwell.

If you haven't been....you gotta go.

This shot here is looking down the Fulford Valley.

Nice to see you folks! Sorry I couldn't visit more, trying to stay ahead for the weekend. Thanks for your donation to the New Patio Furniture Fund. :)

If you ever find yourself on Saturna Island, the bistro at the Saturna winery is a must.

They have a nice deck that overlooks the vineyard, the ocean, and South Pender. They have a delightful menu that at times favours a Mediterranean cuisine, wine tasting of course, and a little Jack Johnson on the stereo.

Great place to waste a sunny day.

Vancouver's Third Beach in Stanely Park has a regular drum circle in the afternoons that celebrates the setting sun.

Hundreds of people turned out for this event on Tuesday afternoon but from what I had been told that evening's turn out was quite small. Pretty gnarly stuff, though.

What's eveyone looking at?

Oh, it's this:

I used to tease my friends who traveled to warm countries in the summer.....but I take all that back now. For those of you that like to waste some time in Maui...this is THE spot. It's located at the north end of Kihei.

VRBO (vacation rentals by owner) check it. Cheaper than a motel on Gorge road.

Allegiant out of Bellingham flies direct for less than you can fly to Winnipeg.

OK here is the secret to a $27 vacation.

Next summer when the Alpine ferry is traveling between the Sidney Pier and Sidney Island you have to lay down $20 a head for a round trip ticket.

Take a tent and some grub with you and camp out at the park. You can reserve if you want. The camping fees are a little less than $14 so if there is two of you that is $7 a head.

This is one of the nicest spots on the planet.

Check this out.

Or this

Here is a shot of some of the camping spots.

There are lots of areas to explore like this bunker.

Or just marvel at the landscape.
