I saw the craziest thing today. I was on the corner of Meares and Quadra when I heard this "CROKKKCrashhh". I looked over and a massive Garry Oak limb broke off a tree in Pioneer Square and fell to the ground. The limb was as big as a tree--it was over a foot in diameter. Anyone resting underneath would have been crushed.

The dry weather can open up cracks in the crotch of trees, causing branches to weaken and fall.  A "CROKKKCrashhh" is typical for Garry Oaks, which is better than hearing Aaargh!, which identifies a different type of crotch problem.

So if "CROKKKCrashhh" is immediately followed by "Aaargh" and no one is around to make a video of it, does the $10,000 prize make a sound?

I admit, the first people on scene whipped out their phone cams. I'm pretty sure nobody was underneath. If there was I would have made front page of Reddit. Oh, yeah, then I'd be sure to call the ambulance.

I hate when people on the news are describing a huge plane crash or tornado and they say they heard a "crash". Really? C'mon, use some imagination. You don't have to be Don Martin but at least make an effort.

^Exactly. The description was more violent than the actual crash.

In other news, for any City of Victoria employees just joining us, THERE'S A FRICKIN' TREE CRASHED IN PIONEER SQUARE.

City crews are on the scene turning the mighty oak limb into firewood. If you want a handout, hustle over and ask nicely.
