With the prop tips breaking the sound barrier the sound the electric aircraft makes is pretty similar to the ICE one.

A private business should receive an immediate police response to have trespassers removed from their property.

Slow down there, Sgt. Pilcher. The protesters would love the optics of chaotic struggle and being dragged away by cops. Better to quietly de-escalate as they have been doing.

De-escalate? You mean like arresting a guy for calmly and peacefully cleaning trash off his highway?

Yeah because that strategy has been working so well.

The officer states: “it’s not as simple as you think it is. ...if it was simple we would have done it already.”

From HA: We are aware of an attempted theft of a Seair aircraft at the Coal Harbour terminal this morning. During this incident, two Harbour Air aircraft were damaged. The safety and security of our passengers is our priority. Early flights were re-routed, all flights are now operating.

Know it all.

Extensive damage. Seair Beaver's wing completely shorn off, HA Twin Otter's wing almost torn clean away.

Harbour Air is resuming harbour to harbour flights between Vancouver and Victoria on April 27. Will only be using their Otters (sounds like both the DHC-3 and -6, 14 and 18 seats respectively) at maximum 40% capacity. Curious if this is a result of them receiving the federal wage subsidy.

Will figuratively be a breath of fresh air to see regular float plane action in the inner harbour again, despite it literally not being a breath of fresh air.

shoe, do they normally use anything other than otters?

I thought they only had one or two 6’s left also.

I don’t think they use their beavers on this route.

They throw the odd Beaver at this route, but very rarely. Like you say, it's typically the Otters. That piece of info is definitely more relevant for the Nanaimo-Sechelt and Nanaimo-Vancouver routes that they currently are still operating where Beavers are more commonly used, but have now been replaced with Otters.

Harbour Air has four Twin Otters in their fleet. It was three but they just took possession of their fourth in February.

ah interesting. I thought they had purposely cut back on twins for obvious cost savings (1 pilot vs. 2). but at the same time i bet just more efficient engines can also save. so if they find a deal on a twin with newer engines it can work.

trivia: trans Maldivian Airways operates 55 of these planes: https://en.m.wikiped...ldivian_Airways

Agreed. I must have been horrible for Government employees to have to take the ferry back and forth. Should be a rule against that :-)

looks like they still had their flights.

“To ensure we do not leave anyone stranded, we continue to offer private flights, freight and government-support services as required,” Harbour Air said. “We have introduced vigilant cleaning and social-distancing protocols, suspended scheduled flights and reduced our operations across the province.”

As before, safety regulations will include checking the temperatures of ground and flight crew when arriving and leaving the workplace, and providing passengers with gloves and masks that must be worn for the entire flight.

why can't the above protocol work for other workplaces?

Helijet has still been running. That’s normally the method of travel most preferred by senior government staffers and politicians.

All-electric Grand Caravan makes maiden flight

An electric-powered Cessna 208B Grand Caravan lifted off a Moses Lake runway on 28 May, marking another milestone in a project that aims to bring all-electric flight to consumer air travel.

In taking flight, the Caravan became, according to the companies behind the project, the largest all-electric passenger or cargo aircraft ever to fly.

But propulsion company Magnix and AeroTEC, an engineering and flight test specialist, say their modified Grand Caravan proves that small all-electric aircraft can feasibly and economically operate short routes that airlines long ago abandoned.

why were those flights abandoned?  compared to inflation, have short flights risen much higher in cost for some reason?

will electric flights make short, say 15-minute sightsteeeing flights feasible?  how about port angeles or friday harbour flights?  or sidney to the gulf islands?
