I don't know if there is already a forum for this but I would be interested in people's reviews of meals at this event. I have looked over a fair number of menus and have not been impressed. many offer their standard bill of fare; no adventuresome culinary treats. I would have thought that chefs would use this opportunity to spread their wings and outdo the other guy. reports of good value would be appreciated.

The launch tonight was very good. Held at Bayview Roundhouse. Somewhat cool (temp) inside though. Good crowd turnout.
Varied food with some exceptional samples. Aura, Fireside Grill, Empress Room, Steamhouse and Bella Montagna to name a few. Would of liked to see a few more restaurants represented.
I was impressed with the number of wineries/vineyards and breweries that were there.

Fodors rather likes Brasserie L'École. In fact their favourite four are all downtown: http://www.fodors.co...s/fodors-choice.
None of these are outside the CoV: https://www.narcity....ed-eat-victoria
And Lonely Planet recommends these: https://www.lonelypl.../poi-eat/361274

Are those actual customers rating them, or food critics. I go with the people!
A little of both I suspect. Regardless, the consensus is that the best restaurants are in the CoV.

Had lunch today at the Sea Glass restaurant out at the Van Isle Marina. Service and food were both excellent.

Starts tomorrow.
Does anyone know how much it costs to join this event, for restaurants?
Most marketing people will tell you it's throwing good money after bad trying to promote during your toughest time of the year. However, of course this event has wide appeal and deep roots, and they save money by grouping their promotional buys. Still not sure if it makes sense.

Can’t recall the price, but back in the day it was a massive, massive bump in business. It was less about making money, more about keeping folks employed and the cash flow flowing.
You do need to be a member of the BCRFA to participate, TVic gets their cut too, I’m sure.

You get through the insane holiday period, have a week or two to recover and maybe do some winter maintenance before the locusts descend once again, clearing you out of your braised short ribs on a nightly basis, like summer all over again.
Then it’s all over, and you get another week to catch your breath before v-day (and now family day long weekend) and then it’s spring and you start ramping up again. Next thing you know it’s October.
I feel like it’s a couple hundred bucks to register, bcrfa membership is a few hundred a year, not sure what TVic takes.

That KFC has been gone for quite a while as I go to the eye clinic next door. That's where we have to park.
