What in the world? So like the Swiss Army of sorts? We better start designing a knife then.

Navy sailor rescued after falling overboard, spending two hours in water

The sailor was found in the frigid ocean waters east of Bentinck Island late Monday afternoon after falling off a rigid-hulled inflatable.

Good result here, tough weather day to go in the water.

An investigation is underway to determine exactly how the sailor ended up in the water, he said.

My own investigation says he probably went over the edge of the boat.  Harder to get in the water any other way from that type of boat.  Not impossible I suppose.

The Pilot boat was one of the first rescue craft on the scene. The Pacific Guardian utilized their recovery basket hoist to pluck the guy out of the water, and race him to shore at over 30 knots. Most of us do not realize that the Pilot Launch is fully crewed by professional mariners 24/7 every day and is thus frequently involved in such emergencies.

Tehran has designated Canada's navy as a terrorist organization in response to Ottawa's decision to add an Iranian military branch to its list of extremist groups.

In a statement, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Canada's 2024 listing of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist entity contravened international law.

No other country even designates Canada's navy as a navy, so I guess we should be pretty proud of our standing with Iran.

As far as I’m concerned, these articles have no use unless we know the cause or circumstances of the death..

The soldier died near the Latvian capital of Riga on Jan. 29, said Canada's Department of National Defence (DND) in a media release. The circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation by military police with support from Latvian State Police, said the DND, adding no further information will be provided.

EXCLUSIVE: CAF training platoon with 83% non-citizens devolved into ethnic infighting

An explosive internal CAF report reveals a Quebec officer platoon dominated by non-citizens descended into ethnic infighting, a "lack of respect for women peers" and abysmal graduation rates.

CBC:

Changes that allowed for the admission of permanent residents into the Forces also meant a higher number of training units with newly arrived immigrants.

"These initial platoons were also made up of candidates with as little as three months residency in Canada, leading to a significant culture shock as candidates had not yet acclimatized to Canadian society, let alone Canadian military culture," Kiely wrote.

Those units had a higher failure rate, with one French-speaking unit graduating only 48 per cent of the class.

Permanent residents have "been a challenging demographic to train," said the report.

The unit cited with the high failure rate was also beset with allegations of racism and infighting, such as recruits from Cameroon "against those from Côte d’Ivoire."

Because they speak French.

The francophone stream is kind of wide open still, no LMIA required last I looked. It’s not people from France using the program, I’m thinking.
