Anyway, I hope whatever eventually gets built on the Langley Street parking lot will take some cues from this Customs House project re: getting the fundamentals right. This is the kind of building that pays homage to its surroundings not by being bland and deferential but by fitting in as a fine new piece among the existing fine pieces.

FYI: the top deck of that parkade was completely empty when I was there. Not one car.
edit: Upon further review I don't remember any cars there, but don't quote me. Maybe there were a few, but it was empty enough for me to think "there aren't any cars up here".

Since this is the Broughton Street parkade thread I suppose it's the most appropriate place for me to make another observation about my observations from that parkade's top deck: you can barely see the very tops of HP1 and HP2 from there.

Maybe you should have faced north.

If past development controversies have taught me anything, it's that a tall new highrise building will utterly dominate the view no matter which direction you're facing (but especially if you're facing toward the building in question).

But in this instance that axiom didn't seem to be very axiomatic. Hence, I now have an axiom to grind.

That looks like your typical boring condo style. On top of that Government street is getting rather sketchy.

^Good to know, but I still bet it would be expensive to refinish Government Street however you like.

It's crazy expensive but it really is a great building. Those roof spaces would be terrific. I could spend hours up there just looking around at things from that unique perspective.

For a period of two years starting January 1, 2023, non-Canadians are banned from purchasing homes in Canada under the definition of “residential property” indicated in the legislation and associated regulations that the federal government published on December 21, 2022.
Although further technical interpretations of the regulations are still pending, here is the current understanding of the regulations.

That's a bit of a misleading headline and sub-headline. Sales dropped 41.2%, not prices.
