Great photos EvnKas. How long will it take for someone to complain about the destruction of this "heritage" building?

Sorry I'm dumb, is that part of the demolition process or did it just collapse on its own?

...I heard one tourist couple in their late 50s say.. “Can you believe they’re tearing down that heritage building?!”
I am willing to forgive tourists this transgression. It will gall me however if I hear/read a letter from locals decrying the loss of this piece of Victoria's noble past. That loss happened more than 60 years ago.
Before getting indignant people should at least make some attempt to learn the actual history of this site.

This afternoon... I’ll share some pics later today. I heard one tourist couple in their late 50s say.. well the man said “Can you believe they’re tearing down that heritage building?!”
Next up Victoria City Hall!

It appears that the 1980s "gingerbread" was stripped off prior to demolition.

Oh my, this morning’s TC front cover has a picture of the demolition with the by line “So long Customs House.” In the photo description there is no mention that only the faux heritage portion is coming down, not the actual heritage building.
Guaranteed to elicit letters to the paper.

I'm not surprised with the quality of news reporting we have been getting over the past decade or two, and not just the TC
I would hope someone with a little smarts would realize that no one would spend the significant amount on steel shoring if the heritage building was going to be demolished

Today's update - one lane of traffic open. Curious to see how they delicately finish off the job.

Jaws of Destruction in 4K
Here's a short clip of the demolition process. I'm about 950 m away from the flag.

Looks like Aleppo
No, it really doesn't.

For some reason they are taking it very slow with taking the last parts of the building down.

Presumably, to protect the heritage structure that will remain.

In Aleppo do they erase and rebuild on the same site every ~30 years the way Victoria has on this site?
Seriously, 3 different buildings plus a complete re-skinning of one of them, all in the span of just ~125 years. Victorians don't like change, except in those instances when they have an insatiable fetish for it.
Anyway, I have a feeling this latest iteration might end up lasting longer than all of its predecessors put together.
