A bit of a backup on Johnson St. this morning as crews replaced the lamp post on the corner of Johnson and Government.  The post was rusted out at the base.

According to one of the workers it's becoming an issue as these posts have a "life span" of 30 years - yet many of the posts downtown are 40 to 60 years old.  :o

So you're saying after the age of 40 your post may become less erect?

One of those posts near the corner of Wharf and Johnson toppled over a few years ago.

That was part of the "pack rust" fear mongering that morphed into the city needing a near bridge.

^I don't think it's fear mongering if the pole actually falls over. No mongering is required, the incident is already well self-mongered.
