Do the design of the balconies help or hinder the appearance of some of Victoria's recent buildings?

What do you want to see more of and less of?

This is actually quite cool, Bingo. It's amazing how different the "balcony" is treated across different projects.

The "balcony" in the last picture is actually more of a roof top patio. It is on the East side (facing Amelia Street) of the Richard Blanshard Building (aka Ministry of Health) at 1515 Blanhshard Street.

I heard there was restriction of balcony size in Victoria. Is this true?

Looks safe - if it falls down it'll just get wedged between the two houses instead of crashing to the ground.

perhaps it is more of a function of setback requirements than balcony size as such

A friend of mine just showed me a brochure for this apartment building in Montpelier in France.  Talk about balconies.
