Victoria native, Harbour Cats alumnus, and Phillies pitcher Nick Pivetta is scheduled to start in tomorrow's game versus the Blue Jays.

The way the Jays have been playing, he could pitch a no hitter.

Even if it's at the expense of the Blue Jays, I wouldn't mind another Canadian pitcher managing a complete no-hitter shutout. Give us some cred.

The Jays have not had a great season in the first half.

But Ryan Borucki (24 years old) has had two great starts in the last week.  This guy can pitch.

Still think they could turn it around for the 2nd half and hope they don't sell off their players.

BTW, Bautista returns to Toronto for two games tonight.

Blue Jays traded Seunghwan Oh (and his interpreter) to the Rockies for a pair of prospects (infielder and outfielder) and another yet-to-be-named player.

J.A. Happ was traded to the Yankees for a utility infielder/outfielder and a 1B prospect. Sorry to see him go, but he is a free agent this offseason and this way the Jays were able to get something for him. Plus he's stated that he wanted to stay in Toronto, so he may get signed back in the offseason (a similar setup happened a while back, the Yankees traded Chapman to the Cubs, then signed him back as an FA in the offseason).

They will be hurting a bit in pitching since Estrada and Sanchez are still out on injuries. On the other hand, they are well stocked on position players and have some wiggle room for additional trades. Other current players are also possible trade targets, and even the Braves have been inquiring after Stroman.

At least a few former Blue Jays favourites - Encarnacion, Happ, and Pearce - have a chance at a WS ring this postseason. The Blue Jays themselves likely don't. It's a good time to do some work in building for future years.

Happ was arguably the best available pitcher - and a lefty - and he generally does well against the Red Sox, so he is a good pick up for the Yankees.

I thought the Jays did not get much for their trades. Early in the season to throw in the towel.

Glad for Happ.

Its tough being a Jays fan sometimes.

A lot of the fanbase thought the return for Happ was too low. Tip: don't look at the comments on Facebook - I did, and lost some IQ points in the process. So many armchair experts there. Funny though, Yankees fans conversely though they paid too much for Happ. The reality is, Happ is effectively a three-month rental for the Yankees.

It is tough to be a Jays fan these days, but the reality is that they are well down in the standings and have multiple teams between them and the second wild card - they aren't likely this year.

Done deal: the Astros are getting Osuna from the Blue Jays in return for RHP Ken Giles and minor league RHPs Hector Perez and David Paulino. [source]

Evidently, in the aftermath of his arrest the Blue Jays management decided that Osuna would not pitch for the Jays again at the major league level (he has been doing some pitching in the minors where the suspension does not apply). They then decided to make the best trade they could get for him. [source] It had been speculated that Rogers, being image-minded, might be putting some pressure on Jays management to move Osuna this year or in the offseason.

I'll be sorry in a way to no longer see Osuna closing games like he could (throwing fire), but on the other hand, this trade removes the pall hanging over the team.

Osuna's MLB suspension is still in effect through August 5. The court case is still pending.

The Blue Jays are looking more and more like they positioning to rebuild, as they should be.

It continues.

If you thought the Jays needed a shake up it has happened.

Rebuild, not sure as I think we lost out on every trade recently but time will tell.

Yup, it's looking like a rebuild. Needed to be done.

As I see it, the Jays traded off five major league pitchers - Oh, Happ, Osuna, Axford, Loup - and got back a major league reliever (Giles), a major league position player (Drury), four minor league pitchers (Copping, Waguespack, Paulino,  Perez), and three minor league position players (Spanberger, Wall, Mckinney).

Factor in Steve Pearce's trade to the Red Sox for another minor league position player (Espinal).

The Blue Jays are a bit heavy on fielders now, but they've just gained a good bit of depth and increased their prospect pool. Could have done much worse.

A number of trades happening today. August 31 is the last day that players can be traded if they are to participate in the playoffs.

A big one here. The Blue Jays have traded Josh Donaldson to the Indians for a player to be named later. There was a lot of speculation as to whether he would be traded, and for what kind of a return, given his continuing calf issue.

Also, Curtis Granderson was sent to the Brewers in exchange for a minor league outfielder.

The Blue Jays will suck even more trading Donalson away.

Love JD but we have the best prospect in baseball who also plays 3B. JD is a 33 year old injury prone upcoming FA who has his only chance to cash in. Him and the Jays are not a fit at all.

Toronto needs to focus on pitching. Spend the money saved on JD and buy all the good pitching you can.

They did that by getting rid of HAPP?

Happ is a 36 y/o pending FA. He doesn't fit the team's profile at all.

The overall team age has lowered dramatically, which was one of the goals for this season. As great a pitcher as Happ can be, I agree that resigning him goes against what the team is trying to do - get younger, and get new talent on the field to mature.

Perhaps some coaching staff changes are in order.
