Canadian residents are barred from buying tickets to the Jays' potential American League Division Series matchup next week at Yankee Stadium.
So are 46 other US states.

Despite the furor, a Yankees spokesperson pointed out that the policy has been in place since 2018.

Mariners choosing not to bunt in the 10th with a man on second and nobody out... if they lose this game then I'm going to say they screwed themselves by subscribing to stupid modern baseball theory that regards the fundamentals as if they were old-fashioned.

For starters, there aren’t many tickets available. All the tickets made available by the Mariners through various sales over the past few weeks have sold out. The only tickets available as of Tuesday via the Mariners are standing-room only tickets going for $280, before taxes.
The Mariners have not geo fenced any of their ticket sales this year, meaning fans from Canada have just as much opportunity to buy tickets as those in Seattle, Portland or anywhere else in the United States.
In a statement, the M’s said the ticketing process prioritized making sure season ticket members had first shot at getting tickets before individual tickets went on sale and “all were welcome to purchase including our many fans in B.C.”

On Friday afternoon, the Clipper from Victoria docked in Seattle with about 275 passengers, many wearing Toronto jerseys and ready to make themselves heard.
“Let’s go Blue Jays!” shouted Kayden McLellan, one of the youngest fans off the boat, echoing a rally cry that carried all the way up the pier.
Clipper officials say that kind of mid-October rush is unusual and a welcome surprise. It’s shoulder season for tourism, but the arrival of the Canadian Invasion has given the route, and the city, a jolt of energy.
From the waterfront to T-Mobile Park, Canadian fans could be spotted all over even though they were clearly outnumbered by a sea of navy and teal.

True story: after game 2 I predicted the Jays would depress the fans in Seattle with some humiliating road wins, but that there would be controversy in game 5 (either an injury or a terrible call). Pretty funny. But I also predicted if it goes to seven games then the Mariners would win late in dramatic fashion. Sometimes the crystal ball is a bit foggy.
Does anyone remember 1990? Unbeatable juggernaut Oakland team stacked with future hall of famers got swept by the overwhelming underdog Cincinnati Reds. It would be nifty if something like that happens this year.

Can I just say it really really really really bugs me when people try to inject political jingoism into US/Canada pro sports? It felt incredibly forced and fake way back in the 1970s when booing anthems first became a thing, and it still feels incredibly forced and fake, and especially since I thought it was gone for good through the late 1990s and early 2000s. But then Canadians revived it for their ongoing Stanley Cup drought pity party, and then Americans revived it again for the bat flip Jays, and then the Raptors championship, and now the 2025 Blue Jays.
Considering how minor league teams in baseball and hockey have always played across the border, and considering how NHL teams have played across the border pretty much since day one, and considering how Montreal had an MLB team in frickin' 1969 as part of the first wave of modern MLB expansion, and considering the major role Canadians played in the very invention of the North American sports (baseball, basketball, gridiron football, and ice hockey), it's all so incredibly stupid.
Politics = stupidity.
