I've never been more uninspired and disinterested in a Federal election as I have been with this one. It came down to examining all the candidates in my riding and deciding who deserved it most. Even that was tough. In the end I only voted so I maintained the right to complain. 37 million people and these are the best leaders we could come up with. Sad really.

got out, voted pretty much no lines (only line up was for people who were not registered or did not have their card), was pretty quick, even took the puppy with me in his bubble backpack with no issues and he was very well behaved i was in and out in probably under 5 minutes

Yup. Less than 5 minutes for me as well, with a baby and 3 yr old in tow.

No lines at my station. Barely a soul around. I imagine things will get busier when people start stopping at the stations on their way home.

Yah, no lines at my station (Glenlyon Norfolk school) either. I wonder if the wet weather is literally dampening turnout.

Or the gains in advance voting don't correspond with gains in turnout today, and we end up with the same overall turnout but spread across more days

I'm wondering what effect the results in Quebec and Ontario will have on races here in BC. If the Conservatives look stronger than expected, lefty British Columbians going to the polls might be more inclined to vote Liberal. If the Liberals look stronger than expected back east, those same lefty BC voters might be more inclined to vote NDP or Green to prevent a Liberal majority.
Polls in Ontario and Quebec close at 6:30 PM PST (9:30 PM EST), so we likely won't see any results until after our own polls close. We may start to see results from Atlantic Canada, as those polls close at 4:30 PST.

Lib 7-2 Con (west pei and east nb)!
so 2 in nb that were "toss-up" have gone conservative so far.
1 in pei that was "leaning liberal" has gone conservative.
12-2-1 (ndp) now.

Drill into the results and it's obviously just one polling station for some so far.

Why are the Liberals so popular in Atlantic Canada?
Large French population in NB and NS, and Federal social programs are a life-line for many there.

Why are the Liberals so popular in Atlantic Canada?
Anything But Conservative movement.
Progressive Conservative Premier Danny Williams (very popular in Newfoundland and Labrador) had a bit of a feud with Stephen Harper over equilization payments and basically killed federal Conservative chances in that province long-term.
The other provinces were all heavy Conservative up until 2015. Probably same reasons why the rest of the country went so red.
