I think Scheer and Poilevre can do a much better job than Trudeau and Morneau.

The dimpled insurance salesman and oily-Poily? A pox on their house, too!
Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?

Oh you must want the rolex wearing, mercedes driving token minority who became leader without ever being an MP and doesn't even know his own party's positions

oily-Poily eh? Got nothing better than that? He's the one who drafted the act that put this whole SNC mess into motion.

It'd be refreshing to have a Gen-Xer / nearly Millennial as Finance Minister, one that is solidly middle class.

Sure, he's good at getting under the skin of Government ministers. Every opposition has folks who do that.

I still think these are hard to understand for some voters. the sponsorship scandal was easy.

...here is a good backgrounder...including the comments section... https://www.quora.co...u-s-resignation

As if on cue today CBC and others have all stopped refering to it as the SNC Lavalin Scandal, and are now calling it the SNC Lavalin Affair. Literally everywhere now it's the 'affair'. Guess they all got the same instructions

Butts testified today. He says the Liberals just wanted to have the AG consider employment implications and encouraged her to seek an external legal opinion.

"Today, I am announcing my intention to run federally. I'm doing so for many of the same reasons I ran for council. I love this city & we need strong voices in gov't pushing for action on climate change & housing. We now know we have less than 12 years to meet our climate targets."

I'll continue to work on council during the nomination & if successful, stay on until I take unpaid leave for the writ period. If elected I'll bring my commitment to housing & climate leadership to federal politics & continue to dedicate myself to representing the people in #yyj.

I again ask...

Why is this just a Trudeau issue when Harper was knee deep in it also? Why can't we just admit politics are politics regardless of party?

I am just continuing to say that this company has had corruption scandals with the government since Chretien.

Harpers AG considering employees during his scandal is equal to this.

Its the company, and how much control that company has in this country that they continually get away with this type of stuff, no matter who is in power.

Bribery issues with this company go back to 2001, that we know of. Under the leadership of several different Prime Minister. All of which allowed this company to continue on and get larger.

Maybe a US style breakup up ala AT&T needs to happen here?

I am not saying that Trudeau is not screwed... but has he really done anything more then shield a corrupt corporation as many a Prime Minister before him.

Solid point by newcouncil. Could this by-election be a second (or third) chance for one of them?

Sonia Chandler left for Europe about a year and a half into her second term as CoV councillor, back in 2010. The election took place in the fall of 2008.

^ She won't resign from council unless she wins.
