People's Party of Canada Leader Maxime Bernier posed for a photo with members of an organization described as a hate group in Calgary Sunday.

The photo, which was taken at an event where Bernier announced new candidates for his party, shows the PPC leader in a cowboy hat posing with men who are wearing vests with patches depicting the emblem of Northern Guard.

One of the men flashes a hand gesture that the American Anti-Defamation League says has been used by white supremacists, ironically or sincerely, to symbolize white power.

The symbol was infamously flashed during a mid-March court appearance by the man who is accused of killing 51 people in a gun attack on two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand on March 15.

Barbara Perry, director of the Centre on Hate, Bias and Extremism at Ontario Tech University, said she'd describe the Northern Guard as a hate group that has "crawled out from under the shadows."

"It's disturbing," she said, referring to the photo of Bernier. "From the very beginning when he created the party ... there was a flood of far-right nationalists, you know, sort of coming to the party, and he was not very vociferous in turning them away."

Some chump who is a second cousin twice removed from Putin puts $1,000 into facebook ads and we have congressional hearings on Russian interference in the election. Meanwhile we have an ex-PM's consulting firm being paid millions of dollars by the Chinese Government for tours and lectures which in turn a portion is then donated back to the Liberal party to fund their campaign and McCallum using his position as a political appointee to encourage a foreign government to act and nobody has an issue with that?!

Millions were poured into Canada by foreign agents to affect the political climate within the country, and far too few Canadians have an issue with that (especially those who benefited financially from that foreign money then ended up in top-level positions within the Trudeau government).

Andrew Coyne: McCallum is enlisting China’s aid in re-electing the Liberals — and coaching them how to do it

Whose interests was he taking it upon himself to defend? The Liberal Party’s, certainly. China’s apparently. It’s just not clear where Canada’s interests fit in

Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer is accusing former Liberal cabinet minister John McCallum of an “invitation of foreign interference in the Canadian election” after McCallum’s comments on the deteriorating Canada-China relationship were published in a Hong Kong newspaper.

McCallum, who was fired as the Canadian ambassador to Beijing for making politically charged comments in January, told the South China Morning Post in an interview this week that China should halt its “punishments” on Canadian exports, and that “anything that is more negative against Canada will help the Conservatives, (who) are much less friendly to China than the Liberals.” He added, “it would be nice if things will get better” before the election.

You know somethings up when even the CBC permits this article

If the past few months of Canadian politics have taught us anything, it's that bile works. Weeks of Liberal caterwauling about abortion and hidden agendas have put Prime Minister Justin Trudeau back on top of the polls

Yup, but its still surprising that the CBC would dare publish such perceived heresy especially with Comrade Diaz running the $600million free candy store.

But then theres this from a capitalist colonial privileged white male

Of the person? I was making dinner and my mom talked to him but he seemed nice enough from the little I heard. Was basically just "Hi I'm running for the Green Party of Canada in your riding, do you have any questions or concerns you'd like me to address with the party" type thing.

And probably will still be a chef after October 21, 2019.

As was Harper and his ignorance. It's a never ending cycle here and the US. 8- 12 years of on party then a swing to the other. Over and over again, with the other side whining about the fact they are not in charge. Rinse and repeat.

This is now just a few short months away, it looks like the Greens have a candidate for Victoria (Racelle Kooy - the biography looks a little light), the conservatives have a candidate (Richard Caron - a chef), the NDP have a candidate (Laurel Collins), but the liberals seem to be holding back on who they are going to have run.  At this point, I'd say Collins stands the best chance.

Could the Liberals steal it with a rock star candidate?
