"......We need every level of government to get its act together and do what's good for the planet rather than take it easy on their electorate in hopes of another victory. We need to quit electing governments that pander to the completely unreasonable beliefs of uninformed people. (Fascinating that "conservative" is now attached to a social ideology that doesn't view climate change as a big concern.)"

The NDP's Laurel Collins campaign office is in the old BCAA space at the corner of Yates and Quadra next to Starbucks.
Get your lawn sign there or just use last year's city council sign and paint MP on it.

Starting to shape up for a tough election race for 3rd and 4th. But much can happen in a few months.

The Commission will only permit five leaders to speak. The peculiar thing is, the Commission allowed Elizabeth May to speak at the debates back in 2011 even though her party had yet to secure a single elected MP.

Bernier has been left out of the leader’s debate.
The Commission will only permit five leaders to speak. The peculiar thing is, the Commission allowed Elizabeth May to speak at the debates back in 2011 even though her party had yet to secure a single elected MP.
May was not part of the 2011 Leaders' Debate. She was invited to participate in the "small parties public forum," but refused.
This same thing happened in the 2015 debates. Two Quebec MPs split from the Bloq and NDP and formed the Strength in Democracy Party and demanded to be part of the debates, but were refused. That's likely where the "have an MP elected to the House under the party banner" rule came from.

It's a fair application of the commission's established rules. Bernier isn't a serious candidate.
the rules did not look all that crazy. i'm not sure they field a candidate in all ridings but other large parties like communist or marxist or christian heritage have never been invited to debates. maybe someone else knows the reform party debate history.
i'm a bit surprised we have not seen any significant rise of a western or at least an all-alberta federal party.

Got a mailer today from the Green Party for candidate Racelle Kooy (very eco-friendly, all that paper and carbon footprint for deliver, thanks Greens ).
Anyways, interesting quote from it. "When I walk down Pandora Ave and see developers building expensive condos, leaving thousands of locals priced out of the heart of our own city, I feel the inequality being created here. As your Green MP, I will advocate for smart, sustainable city planning that ensures an affordable home for everyone."
What is with Victoria politicians and not staying in their lane? We have a municipal council that constantly wants to punch up to provincial and federal matters, and now we have a federal candidate that wants to get involved in municipal affairs?
