CBC executives earn their bonuses for successfully fleecing taxpayers for larger sums year-after-year.

Despite getting $1.5-billion of taxpayers’ money, data from the CRTC show the CBC has dropped to less than 3.9 per cent of viewership across Canada in 2018-2019 – a whopping drop of 25 per cent in just one year.

Fewer viewers = less ad revenue = increased government funding. Eventually, Canadian taxpayers will be paying for a service that literally no one is watching.

It makes far more sense for the CBC than it does for NPR which is really more of a listener co-op. I expect NPR will have that rescinded in a couple of days.

Lol. Does anyone truly believe the CBC is independent media? Quite literally, they are dependent on government funding.

I do believe that many CBC employees and even editors try to maintain at least a outward veneer of impartiality, though they fail at that a lot. I do read and will continue to read CBC news stories, but for any news story, no matter where it comes from, if I want to learn more, I'll look for more sources and more information.

Now that Twitter has labelled CBC government-funded, Trudeau says “I think it says a lot about the Conservative Party of Canada. They're choosing to constantly attack independent media organizations,"...
Justin could immediately cut all government funding to the CBC and then we'd know for sure they were an independent media organization.

I just think of it as media releases from the government. Never watch CBC TV except for the occasional episode of Schitt's Creek. Can’t remember the last time I listened to CBC radio.Lol. Does anyone truly believe the CBC is independent media? Quite literally, they are dependent on government funding.
But if the government didn’t control the narrative somebody else would just do it

I have greater trust in almost anyone but the government to tell me the truth.

I just ask you.I have greater trust in almost anyone but the government to tell me the truth.
CBC might be better than a “dictator” run media organization is all I’m saying.

Would we notice the difference from what we have now? Some of us haven't forgotten the events in Ottawa of February 2022.

as I say I don’t watch CBC TV/radio, maybe for just a few seconds as I switch between Global and CTV.Would we notice the difference from what we have now? Some of us haven't forgotten the events in Ottawa of February 2022.
That being said I’m working on installing a bank of video monitors in my octopus incident command centre/smoking room, maybe I’ll put it on one of them
Currently just enough monitors for Global and then all the WebCams of Victoria and a few other things. TVs are so cheap these days
