Any chance the remaining spandrel will be installed any time within the next year? Seriously, what's going on there?
Spandrel is facing a 2.5 year wait time from order to delivery, but they may be able to secure some panes sooner. They've been awaiting replacement since the spring of 2019.
I keep telling everyone supply chains are tight but nobody seems to want to listen or believe it. Everyone likes to harp on this developer or that developer, but what are they supposed to do when the supplier says you're #90 on a list of projects and your wait time is a year? Or two? Or 2.5? It's not like you can drive across town to another supplier.
The hate-on on this forum for some projects has been so over the top. Yes, some projects are late. Yes, they've faced delays and won't meet their initial completion deadlines. But that's how it goes when construction is at a literal all-time peak and the industry can't build out of housing demand on not only a local but a national scale.

So then the Project Manager messed up on their orders/timing, which has cascading impacts down the road.
I get this is a pro-developer forum, but at some point you have to accept they are also open to criticism when things go wrong. How come we can complain about public infrastructure projects being late but not private buildings?
At the end of the day, if you bought a condo thinking it'd be done at time x and it ends up not being done until time y, you'd have every right to be pissed at the developer.

Legitimate criticism and anonymous campaigns of misinformation are two entirely different things, I'm sure you would agree.

Didn't the penthouse at Promontory have a similar delay with the windows or something?

Who is engaging in anonymous campaigns of misinformation? I haven't seen that here, just criticism on timing.

^there was some custom ordered stuff for the penthouse, but yes it did.
Oh wow. 2.5 years? The “within the next year” thing was a joke...
Yes, that's how it's shaking out. But 989 may be able to get replacements far sooner as it's not a big job. Now that being said, the fact that the replacement is coming up on a year gives you a good indication of how busy it is out there and how one hiccup can have a profound effect on schedules.

Sounds like a business opportunity if there is that much delay in getting Spandrel.

I googled "spandrel glass suppliers" and got 26 pages of results, maybe a change in supplier would be in order.

spandrel glass is normally made from helium. and helium has been in short supply for a decade now.

Scaffolding has come down on the Johnson/Vancouver corner entrance to the restaurant space. It looks like they just have railings to install there.

I worked at this location in 2013, first time I have seen a building I worked in replaced by something new (and much, much better)

I know that there was a surface lot here; what else was at 989 Johnson ...?
