Whats also interesting about the per capita numbers is that the cost to go has continued to rise over that period. It's quite pricey these days.

Is that true? Marvel movies are a huge theater draw, look at their audiance:

it is for "adult" movies.  like "hurt locker" or "the shipping news".  market for those is slipping.

look at "vice".  box office stinker at less than $32M gross.

About 10 months old but most of the comments are still relevant.

Yet another good reason to beware of cryptocurrencies as an investment.

That is why I’m a long term holder of Disney stock. Their content is the gold not the theatre that shows it....

$KWH.UN getting taken out at $7.57 a shares and is currently trading at $5.48. $

KWH.UN has been part of my dividend PF for some time now ... sometimes it does pay to be patient with an investment.

You are right. By waiting we are only down 20% and not 40%!

Disney is gearing up for an absolutely monster 2019 in theares.  Dumbo, Aladdin, The Lion King, Toy Story 4, Frozen 2, Avengers, and Star Wars.

I took advantage of the lower prices and averaged down, so I will be in a capital gain situation, not too mention the juicy dividends I collected all the way ;)

If I can offer anything constructive, just take it out. I didn't take my shares out on MEG and took a severe whooping. I feel like a complete dufus.

Ya, I have had a few where I should have cut my losses for sure. One way back I held until it turned into nothing. It was a pioneer in digital music publishing in the 90s called liquid audio. I simply did not foresee the music industry being so idiotic. I was wrong and they fought the online music revolution at their peril. I was right about where music would end up though and it turned out to be a big part of why my Apple shares did so well so I felt vindicated!

Just giving you a hard time my friend. The debate started with the comment higher yield generally means higher risk. If you have the stomach then you can make money.

I realize that and this year it will likely be -9%

And now we have the answer. CPP up 1.1% in the quarter where equity markets dived.
Diversification for the win.

I wonder what benefit if any CPP has in marking investments to market. If I have a private mortgage that is not listed or commoditized in some way, does it lose value if the stock market goes down? Do they evaluate all securities like that every quarter? They could, I just don't know.

You think that they valued their investment in PG&E as an example at $0 or what they paid for it?!

I don’t know, but I would assume they value it at the current stock price which is $15
