Please mark your choices for Victoria City Mayor and Council.  You may only vote in this poll once.

Note: votes are not displayed publicly, however, moderators will be monitoring to ensure nobody votes for more than the allotted 8 council candidates.

Please use the 2014 Municipal Elections general discussion thread for discussion on the elections. Please feel free to identify your selected candidates in this thread.

Poll open to members only as a result of a software limitation. If you wish to participate in this poll, please create an account at http://vibrantvictor...ection=register

It's really too bad the system does not allow guests to vote :(

Guests can become members just to vote,    and then they can disappear into the background just like many others on the forum.

It would also be cool if ordered the eight candidates to the top; I'm to lazy to figure out the top eight every time I check

Unfortunately that is not a feature of the poll system.

Oh, and I want to put it out there that if any member wishes to explain why they voted the way they did but wants to do so confidentially, feel free to PM me with your reasoning and I will post it anonymously.

Oh I don't know...Luton, Hunter and Lucas were councillors from the bridge referendum vote/election that were now out of office.

I was referring to our abilities to predict actual results which, based on a super-small sample, is not good.

I wonder if we will do better this time?

Looking at where I stand in the VV poll, here's hoping it's more accurate this year  ;)

The gap between the "straw poll" in this thread and public opinion in the City of Victoria is fascinating.

Rest assured that I strongly support the rights of minorities, including the right of political minorities to freedom of expression and belief.

Feel free to contact me at any time to discuss your ideas for our city and region.

All the best,

Don't take it personal Ben. You got a crap load of votes in the real world. Even if I don't like your general position and perspective (or my idea of what that is) I respect you as a politician. Your vote count for one but I also see you about in our city. You were the only candidate that came to my door. Plus your comment above are examples as to why you will have success. I might have voted for you as a left balance candidate if I wasn't on my no mercy campaign....

I think that contributors to VV on average have a higher level of education then the general public :-)

Seriously, my experience has been that the people who vote in municipal elections are usually the ones who are issues driven and the overall vote does not necessarily represent a true cross section of the populace.

^ Methinks the folks on here are a tad more engaged than the average voter and are less likely to vote for name recognition and more likely for past performance and personal stance.

i.e. providing solutions to non-existent problems such as unenforceable new speed limits when all the in-house professionals indicate its unnecessary supported by VicPD smacks of someone more interested in social engineering than actually "what's good for our region"....just saying....
