Starbucks is shutting down in-store locations to open up drive thrus.....

this seems to be the future to me.  mcdonalds should have a window that just hands out food.  you do all the ordering online and then your phone beeps when it's time to approach the window and take your bag.

Car drivers pay for a lot of the nice stuff you enjoy through gasoline taxes, though.

Remember those fit cyclists subsidize all the sweet health care car drivers end up needing from sitting hours a day

That gets offset every time one gets run over by a car, so I'd say they're even.

There are more oil tankers in the strait than people at Picnic Point right now.

I took this picture today and applied a fancy filter like any professional insta-influencer would.  I think it captures the emptiness and hollowness of Picnic Point.

As usual, around 7:00 tonight it was nearly empty.  I think I counted 6 or 8 people there.  Plenty of cars were parallel parked on the grass and in the yellow no parking zones.  Bizarre.

Anyway, here's some empty benches.

Soon the tourism pamphlets will market Picnic Point as a place of isolated zen.

But what's funny is the distant shore in that photo is of Esquimalt Lagoon, where at that very moment would have been hundreds of people having a great time.

There were more people sitting on logs along the Ross Bay beach eating food last night than I've ever counted eating at the Picnic Point picnic tables.  Guess what?  People picnicking at the beach go sit on logs where they can throw pebbles into the water.  Not the tables at Clover Point.

Any chance we can throw pebbles at the log picnicers at Ross Bay from Picnic Point?

Yeah, catalytic converters and dry grass, a winning mix.

Perfect, we can get rid of the ugly fence at the same time, lol.

Seriously, what's wrong with the fencing? I really don't understand this.

While fencing for safety is understandable, the trouble with the fencing is all the visual clutter that goes on for a long stretch. Not just one fence, but then another parallel fence along the cliffs, obviously needed. Actually, is there also another fence in the middle to keep the dogs off the path? It looks tacky, maybe suitable in Zeballos, but Victoria? While walking towards Clover Point with my picnic basket I expect to come across Paul Bunyan extending the fencing with the freshly fallen trees he's chopped down with his giant axe.

The reason there are no pedestrians at Picnic Point is because they are all traumatized after witnessing row after row of dead tree carcasses.  How insensitive.

Better than dogs that run into the road and become dead.
