A Clover Point picnic checklist
With all the doom and gloom in the news and summer coming to an end, here is a bit of good news: Effective now until June 2023, no reservations will be needed to use picnic tables at Clover Point.
However, if you are planning a picnic at Clover Point because of the winds you may want to take appropriate items, such as glasses with sand-weighted bottoms, rope to tie down the tablecloth and extra tape for hairpieces, if applicable.
Bon appetit.

All that available green space and the city chooses to install picnic tables on the asphalt. If that's not a political statement, I don't know what is.
picnic tables had to go on the asphalt in order to justify closing the loop...duh!

You needed to make a reservation to use the picnic tables?
I just sat down at one.

I want to know where he parked.
I just put my kickstand down a parked beside the table.

Why were you carrying a kickstand?

On a recent trip to Clover Point, on a stormy day, I was lucky enough to get a parking spot in the tiny area that has been allocated for cars.
Crammed in between other cars, I could enjoy the view directly in front of me, and that’s about it. A few years ago all of Clover Point was accessible for everyone to enjoy whenever they wanted to, in any weather conditions.
And then Victoria council decided to make things better. Now there are picnic tables and lounge chairs that, for the most part, only the birds make use of, no cars allowed there.
I get it, some people like the changes, but I’m pretty sure they aren’t having picnics or lounging around in January enjoying the view. Now that we have a mostly new council, maybe Clover Point can be fixed.
How about a compromise? Leave things the way they are for three months of the year, and put things back to the way they used to be for the other nine months.
Some picnic tables and lounge chairs might need to be moved, the birds won’t mind. It won’t cost much, I’ll help out for free.

Changing clover point was nothing but a big fu** you to the people of Victoria who wanted it left alone .
It was nothing more than a power struggle proving the mayor at the time had the power to impose whatever she fancied at the moment with taxpayer’s money .I’m in charge you are not your views mean nothing to me .

And yet the voters still chose to elect "Lisa Helps 2.0" as mayor last October. I sometimes think a large number of Victorians are brain dead, masochists or both.

The issue is that it worked before (presumably thousands of) tax dollars were spent fixing what wasn't broken.
