The JBNA got a sneak peek of what Bosa Development (not Bosa Properties) has in store for the bua terminal lands.
Before VV? Blasphemy!
With the blandness being planned for 701 Belleville Street, "The Residences" needs to be especially outstanding now.

I see it was on the agenda for the meeting tonight... http://www.jbna.org/agenda.pdf
If you went, can you share any details?

Unfortunately I did not attend.

They'd like to build a 10-floor building.
10-storey building proposed to replace bus depot on Empress property

The end surely is nigh!

That's a good height. I was wondering if they might come in high and then play the game re: lowering it. But 8-10 stories is pretty much right on as far as I'm concerned (depending on the heights of the floors, of course).
Now if they can just be brave enough not to imitate the Empress in style, colours, etc.

I'm only in favour of this if it includes a decent observation deck and a helipad for 15-minute quick helicopter tours.
AND a glass elevator like the Grand Pacific.

I was hoping for a glass helicopter.

Interesting how Cheng was the architect of the failed Westbank proposal kitty-corner to the lot, which is now the site of the 15-storey seniors residence proposal by Concert.

Imagine if they proposed a design like Bosa Development's under-construction uber-luxury 41 story Pacific Gateway in San Diego - just scaled back a bit.
The podium on the ground floor could be the new museum. As an aside, Nat is buying the penthouse for $15M, expecting to resell it for $20M. The smallest "regular" condos (1,240 sq ft.) in the 215 unit building will start at $1.4M.

From today's T-C:
“We don’t want to copy the Empress, but we still want to be inspired by the Empress,” ...The overall height would be below that of the Empress, and the upper two storeys would be set back, he said. One side of the building would be curved.

"Inspired" by the Empress makes me a bit anxious for some terrible Songhees-style turrets & faux-copper roofing. I am however intrigued about one side of the building being curved; I doubt it would be the Douglas Street side.

Cheng loves curves, that's for sure.

I'm surprised they don't want to go with a larger footprint.
