Tesla’s purchase of 1.5b in Bitcoin has had quite the payout, as the market cap of the funny money passes a trillion dollars.

“Tesla's $1.5 billion bitcoin investment didn't just make headlines, it has also made the company more profit than its car sales last year, according to a Times of London report.”

https://markets.busi...21-2-1030103815

When this was written, BTC was at $55k USD, today it’s at $58k.

So between selling carbon credits and pumping crypto currencies, why even make cars anymore? :)

It's my understanding that each bit coin becomes more difficult to extract, as each is extracted.

If the value was to continue to rise like it has in the last month, it'll use all the electricity in the world by 2020.

Haha. Oh man, this thread is great!

Mike K. and I know a young fella in the hospitality industry here that's gone all in on it.  Who knows, maybe today he becomes a millionaire.

Hey Mike, any word from that guy? I know a bartender mid island who let his grow to a couple million, I think he was a “set it and forget it” type of person.

You know, I haven’t followed up or heard anything in that regard. Plenty of selling opportunities between 2017 and now though.

Anyone’s guess, but it does appear to be moving more and more to the mainstream so I’m leaning towards yes. Will it drop again soon? Probably? The fanboys just look at that as a sale.

I’ve been watching this from a distance the last couple of years or so, and it’s a weird cult - 2/3 of the reasons they seem to dislike “fiat” currency, also seem to apply to BTC but they ignore that part, lol.

It’s certainly getting easier to spend, not just on Teslas, but you can easily buy regular gift cards and more these days.

My little bit will double in a few days, I’ll take my half and leave the rest to roll.

They haven't made any money until they have sold their position. A simple fact that a lot of investors seem to overlook!

I’m sure Elon isn’t overlooking that part, and yes that is common sense. I see over and over again on the crypto pages experienced people reminding the noobs to take your profit!

I don't get accepting Bitcoin for Tesla's. Say I buy one for 10k and keep it in cold storage. Now today at 58k I give it to Tesla and they send me a Model 3. I don't report the gainas there is no way to trace it. Didn't they just facilitate me evading taxes?

Also fun to see my old posts. At least now I can say I have made some money thanks to the listed products that have showed up since 2017

What I see Elon doing is talking bitcoin up and down. If he is trading on that action then he is making money.
