I think Saanich council is going to be very left leaning after this election. Probably more so than CoV even.

Short of cloning Ben Isitt, how is that even possible?

Someone came to my door (Zac something I think? I'd recognize the name if I saw it probably) and he seemed like a pretty cool guy. How he talked I'd say he was slightly left so I'd be fine with him.

Zac de Vries.  Pretty sure he supports bike lanes.

Maybe. Does anyone have a list of who's running? I honestly don't mind bike lanes, in fact I think they're great. My problem comes in when they're just steam rolled in without taking any consideration of the surrounding area (or if the road is now wide enough for buses/semis)

Incumbents: Harper, Brice, Brownoff, Plant (not sure if all are confirmed)

New: de Vries, Ned Taylor, Teale Phelps Bondaroff, Rebecca Mersereau, Kathleen Burton

If nobody else ran, almost all of them get in.

OK it was him then. That seems like a low amount you're right. I wonder if anyone else is planning on running. I think there were more people in that byelection we had than this.

Oh I forgot Nathalie Chambers.

There were others who ran in the bi-election but they did quite poorly compared to the top 4.  Michael Geoghegan could also be running but now he's toying with mayor of Victoria of course.

Mike Geoghegan is still running for Saanich council despite his intention to announce whether or not he’ll seek election as mayor of Victoria.

Perhaps he is hedging his bets. Nothing stopping someone from running for multiple positions. Didn't we have someone run for Mayor in every muni last cycle?

David Shebib, yup.

Hopefully for his sake he picks different colours than the original LA Kings colours for his campaign.

David Shebib...

And look how well that turned out:

Colwood: David Shebib 94 votes
Victoria: David SHEBIB 62 votes

Saanich: David Shebib 482 votes
Sidney: David SHEBIB 15 votes

Run in multiple races and no one will take you seriously.

Aside from those who really want amalgamation I guess

WTF is wrong with that many people in Saanich?

That's only just over 1% of the total votes cast (28517) http://www.saanich.c...esults 2014.pdf

I really want amalgamation, but it's highly unlikely that I would vote for someone who runs in multiple jurisdictions.

I didn't look at the %'s for both Vic and Saanich but it seemed like we proportionally supported Shebib far more than the CoV did.

He lives in Saanich so he likely had more signs there than elsewhere, and in particular on his own property.

Just goes to show how powerful election signage is.

That's true.  I think deep down I voted for Atwell cause that was one good looking dude on his campaign signs.  There's no way someone that dapper could be cray cray.
