And the best part is 90% of the passengers will have been flown into Dubai first.

When I flew to South Africa there was a very competitive fare via Dubai, but you'd have to be slightly not right in the head to want to fly to Dubai first and only then go south. Flying via London was bad enough.

Know it all.

Russia's Emergencies Ministry says a passenger airliner from Dubai has crashed while trying to land at the airport in the southern city of Rostov-on-Don.

A ministry statement says the crash occurred Saturday morning and identified the plane as a Boeing 737-800 that was coming from Dubai, but did not say how many people were aboard.

Russian news reports cited unnamed sources as saying there were around 60 people aboard.

How dhow they do it?

Tucked away in a boatyard in Dubai's historical shipbuilding quarter, "Jadaf" is a record breaker in the making.

Nearly 90 meters long and 10 meters high, the wooden dhow modeled on traditional Arabian cargo ships will be the largest of its kind in history, according to the makers.  A team of 25 have been working on the boat for two years. Aside from an electric wood cutter and a few basic tools, the magnificent vessel of around 6,000 tons is made by hand using a technique his father taught him as a boy, Obaid explains -- stressing that the process is more like art than conventional construction.

Police test flying motorbike
Dubai Police, who already have Lamborghini patrol cars, self-driving robots and android officers, have decided to take to the skies in what can only be described as a flying motorbike.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Saudi Arabia expelled the Canadian ambassador Monday and froze "all new business" with Ottawa over its criticism of the ultraconservative kingdom's arrest of women's rights activists — yet another warning to the West reflecting Riyadh's newly assertive foreign policy.
