I like the coffee at Serious' Blanshard and Fisgard location...or maybe it's just the demerara sugar they have available.
I really like the coffee at that location too, and I drink it black so it's not just the sugar!

The staff are almost always friendly at the Blanshard and Fisgard location as well.

Wow, that is very different than I was expecting. Were they going for sterile and antiseptic? It looks like the hospitality area you'd find in a local European car dealership.

Walked past the site of the James Bay Serious Coffee earlier today. There was a "For Lease Retail Space" sign in the window. Was hoping it was temporary, maybe for renos or such, but apparently not.

Is the business closing? The posts on their social media indicate that one of the barista's last workday is tomorrow, but no word of closure.

Thanks for sharing this! Pour was a dreadful and overpriced tourist trap. I enjoy a fine espresso more than most and remember Caffe Milano from back in the day. Will be trying this week!
So I tried and was not disappointed! You can really tell the difference in service with a friendly owner on-site, slinging espresso. This is the spiritual successor to Francesco Curatolo's trailblazing East Van torrefazione Milano Coffee from the 80s. I remember his son making regular trips to the island to deliver their product.
They are coffee connoisseurs sans the smug hipster snobbery. They have many bean blends from which to choose and methods to prepare, including pour over and the joy of my youth and undergrad, stove top Motta's. Some nice bake goods and Italian panini, to boot. I'll be in here a few times a week for sure!

Royal Tea (a bubble tea purveyor) will be opening soon in the heritage building at Douglas and Cormorant (former home of City Hall News).
Wasn't the building that housed City Hall News razed to make way for the 1515 Douglas project?
