Someone has leased the former Serious Coffee in James Bat; perhaps it will become a new purveyor of espresso?
Or maybe a new purveyor of bats.

I might be able to understand Serious closing out in that location due to nearby competition - Starbucks, James Bay Coffee & Books, Discovery a few storefronts away, and Good Earth incoming at Capital Park. So I wonder just how much sense it makes for another coffee place to open in that location.

Chuck's Burger Bar is open in the former Famous Original Pizza location on Yates. Their original location is in Sidney.

The Dolce Vita coffee shop in Harris Green Village (near London Drugs) may have recently changed hands and might also be subject to a rebranding soon...

This wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. They stopped offering anything but espresso-based beverages some time ago. That's right, it is a coffee shop that doesn't offer brewed coffee.

The irony continues: the Dutch Bakery, until fairly recently, had a sign out front referring to the establishment as a 'bakery and coffee shop" but their offerings were inverted from Dolce Vita's: they offered drip coffee but no espresso beverages.

Maybe they are the ones taking over the DV space on Yates.

Two things:
Starbucks at Indigo is now open:
I tried the "Brubike" at Mayfair, and it was pretty good. I feel something like this plus a few tables would be perfect for the SW plaza at the Johnson Street Bridge to give it a bit of life.

The Brubike was on Govt St at the entrance to Trounce Alley all last summer and fall, if I remember. Never tried it, but always admired the look of it when I walked by. Agreed that the SW corner by the Johnson St bridge would be a great spot for it.
I did try Cafe 1891 in the Janion yesterday - it's a cute spot but still a bit sparse inside. I didn't see a menu so just ordered a latte which was pretty good, and the baked goods looked tasty and I didn't recognize them from any other local cafe. I'll definitely be back.

^Is amazon.ca broken again?
Posted 08 March 2019 - 01:16 PM
^ oh it's fine, but it doesn't work for ordering specific types well at MSRP. Their order site works better for that, and I usually do that; but I do like the boutiques where you can try new ones before buying.
PS. You're sure a passive aggressive dude eh?

There, I fixed it. Look, you might be an a$$hole, but at least I have the good social graces to keep it to myself.

Hm, someone didn't have their coffee today.
Coffee n' Friends has taken over the old Capricorn Coffee location at Fort and Quadra. Unlike the previous operator this time it is open in the morning. It is also good if you like drinking coffee semi-underground.
