Tillicum one closed? Which one? I was just at the one at the mall.

Matt.

The one at the Gorge Plaza closed a few years ago now (January 1st 2015 or 2016 I think).   The issue at that store was a game of chicken between the strip mall owners and Starbucks in relation to the lease renewal.   They played chicken and no one blinked.

The new Hey Happy is very cool. About 3-4x the seating they had before, and just about every table was taken. Probably the most aesthetically pleasing interior of any coffee shop in Vic.

It's been bustling since the paper came off the windows. They've propped the Square side door open as there's so much foot traffic.

Meanwhile, over at the new Angelo Californian Cafe, the owner would really appreciate if someone would drop by. Anyone. Really, anybody, please.

Interesting because previous owners didn't open up until after 9 am, inexplicably missing out on the morning rush.

I'm annoyed when coffee shops make zero effort to stay open for anyone other than the 'business crowd', i.e. no hours past 4 pm or on weekends.  There are literally thousands of residents within a 10 minute walk of Angelo Californian Cafe but they've decided that office workers (and retirees?) are just about the only contingents worth serving.  The Selkirk Cafe (on Jutland in the Selkirk Waterfront development) is open just 7:30-3:30 pm, depriving residents of that community (and Burnside Gorge in general) of the opportunity to try the cafe outside of 'business hours'.

^I've always loved that Habit at the Atrium is open late. And it's actually quite a popular hangout spot in the evenings.

Yeah, the price has already dropped.

I suspect they want to hand it off before Tim Hortons opens this spring.

Know it all.

Related to the above: The Starbucks at Bay Centre will be closed completely for two weeks starting tomorrow; perhaps the same is true for other malls’ Starbucks?

The Quadra and Yates Starbucks appears to be closed. Signage on the Fort & Blanshard location indicated they were open today for "grab & go".
