Starbucks will close 16 U.S. stores, mostly on the West Coast, by the end of July because of safety concerns, according to the company. Most of the stores set to close are in the Los Angeles and Seattle metro areas.

“We’ve had to make the difficult decision to close some locations that have a particularly high volume of challenging incidents that make it unsafe for us to operate,” a Starbucks spokesperson told CNBC.

How many of those stores were looking to unionize?  Starbucks' track record on what they do with stores about to unionize leaves me extremely cynical.

Turn key bubble tea house in Victoria. Their cheesecake foam topped tea and fruit blend teas are popular. The business has earned a lot of positive reviews. Come make it your Destined tea house!

Tim Hortons says it has reached a proposed settlement in multiple class-action lawsuits alleging the restaurant's mobile app violated customer privacy which would see the restaurant offer a free coffee and doughnut to affected users.

The company says the settlement, negotiated with the legal teams involved in the lawsuits, still requires court approval.

The coffee and doughnut chain says the deal would see eligible app users receive a free hot beverage and baked good.

I wonder if the lawyers will be paid in coffee and baked goods.

Take advantage of this great opportunity to own your own business! Dagwood's Cafe has been a fixture in Langford for the last 10 years. The restaurant seats up to 50 people (inside and on the deck) and includes liquor license. Great, high traffic location and loyal client base! This is an asset sale and includes all equipment, furniture and signage. Step and start to run and grow this business today. Contact listing agent for non disclosure agreement and summary information.

And I will add my usual refrain of what are you buying for that kind of money? 10 year old furnishings?

Not sure if this is the case, but it may be a sale for Canadian Permanent residency.  If they still allow this.

I know a few businesses that were sold downtown many years ago for this purpose.  If the person had purchased a Canadian business and hired a few Canadian employees, they and their entire family would get permanent residency after a few years.

It's an easy but costly way to jump the line.

You will see the business sold,  and then in a few years, it will close down after they get their permanent residency.

The new Shatterbox Coffee location in the former 2% Jazz Space at the Hudson will open soon. Their soup/sandwich business will also be located here.

Stop and smell the Coffee! Serious Coffee Sooke is part of the Vancouver Island based Franchise network with 14 locations on the Island and a recent expansion into the lower mainland. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a busy, west coast location. Serving internationally sourced coffees and teas with fresh, locally made snacks, breakfast and lunch items. Ideal for an owner-operator looking to earn a high income while enjoying the lifestyle the region has to offer. Long-term, below market value lease is in place. Situated in the middle of a high-traffic, newer retail plaza, this Café is well positioned to benefit from the explosive growth the area is experiencing.

It looks like they dropped it $50,000. It's been for sale a very long time.

Sooke could really use a Starbucks. Love them or hate them, they run a tight ship with nice interiors, and their presence lifts up the image of a retail plaza or retail street.

A great opportunity to take over a long-standing community cafe in a great high-traffic location. This café has been the meeting place for local residents who come for great coffee, sandwiches, baked goods, and their extensive collection of reading material that rivals any collection in the city. The café hosts music and small events and has ample room to expand the menu offerings and increase sales. Priced under $60,000 providing the next operator with a great opportunity to take over this proven location and build upon it's strong reputation and add new energy to continue it's long run as a community cafe. NDA is required for more information.
