Boxing does not seem as popular as it once was. However, this does appear to be official and in the works for years.

Should set a pay-per-view record and hopefully lives up to the hype.

Biggest fight in a generation coming up.  It'll be interesting to see what bars show it here, and how much they charge to get in.

US PPV has it estimated at $89 or $99 per home.  That means a LOT will seek out bars to go to.

Quite frankly there has not been a fight like it for at least 20 years, and likely not for another 20. Biggest since the 1996 and 1997 Tyson Holyfield fights, anyway.

Tickets to see it live are reportedly going to start at $250k.

$250k. Take that, Superbowl.

Know it all.

This won't be Superbowl watch numbers, but it'll be the biggest PPV in the history of PPV.  The fighters are themselves making about $200M in total combined purse money, and it's the most money for any boxing match in history, including adjusted for inflation.

That's more than the combined salaries of every player on the lowest 3.5 team payrolls in MLB last year.   The average MLB yearly salary is $3.8M    http://deadspin.com/...team-1551868969

Too bad Mayweather chickened out years ago when both were in their prime. That would have been a fight. This one is just about getting a huge payday.

Red Fox and Tally Ho are both showing it for sure.

They both fought twice in 2014, so it's not like they are coming out of retirement.

The way I read it tickets were up to $250K in the aftermarket. The face value is much lower than that.

Ya, that's right.  There is some concern none will ever make it on the normal market.

True about the payday.  But it had to happen. Still, may be a outstanding fight (which gets lost with all the money this generates).  Anytime you have the ranked number one and two pound for pound, it could live up to the hype.

Mayweather has been ducking Manny for the past five years so he could retire undefeated. Neither man is the fighter they were back then but Manny has slipped further than Floyd. His straight-ahead style has certainly taken its toll on him. He was always willing to take a shot or two to get within punching range before he started landing his bombs. Now he takes a shot or two (or three) and doesn't manage to get position inside. Look for Mayweather to earn a boring, safe decision by staying away and not getting hit. I really, really hope I'm wrong and after all that....I'll probably still get suckered into buying this fight. Knock him out Pac-Man...and then retire....please....

Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao purse could hit $300m with pay-per-view buys expected to double 2.4m record

The initial projection of a purse split of $150million to the Money man and $100m to the PacMan has just been upwardly revised by Pacquiao's promoter.

Bob Arum is now predicting a '$300m distribution' to the protagonists - $180m to Mayweather and $120m to Pacquiao under their 60-40 percent agreement.

So Canadastar Boxing (Canadian PPV distrutor to bars) says just Boston Pizza, Tally Ho, Fox, Strath and Shark are showing the big fight.

Does that sound like enough? I say no.

Home PPV is 89.99 for SD and 99.99 for HD. I cannot imagine how much a bar/ restaurant would be charged for the rights.

Bars get charged by seating capacity. 250 costs about $7,000,

Funny, it's playing in over 100 venues in the Lower Mainland, with just three of those venues adding up to over 2,900 seats.

 http://blogs.vancouv...t-in-vancouver/

Meanwhile, we have it in just 7, totaling at best 1000 or so.  Odd.
